Kepala Badan Penyuluhan dan Pengembangan SDM Pertanian (BPPSDMP) Kementerian Pertanian, Dedi Nursyamsi, melanjutkan safari kerjanya di Provinsi Jawa Timur.
Korankalimantan.com – Setelah sebelumnya memberikan motivasi untuk peserta Workshop Pemantauan dan Persiapan Advance Training di Hotel Royal Tulip Surabaya, kunjungan dilanjutkan dengan mengunjungi Balai Penyuluhan Pertanian (BPP) Cerme, Kabupaten Gresik, Senin (24/9).
Menteri Pertanian Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) mengatakan, penyuluh dan petani merupakan garda terdepan dalam pembangunan pertanian.
“Sebagai garda terdepan penyuluh dan petani harus memastikan, pangan tidak bersoal. Karena kita harus menyediakan pangan bagi seluruh masyarakat,” sebut Menteri Syahrul.
“Sebagai garda terdepan dalam penyediaan pangan bagi 273 juta jiwa, itu bukan hal yang mudah, penyuluh harus mampu menjadi sahabat dan pemberi solusi untuk petani, manfaatkan sumber daya yang ada, pengetahuan dan teknologi, karena penyuluh dan petani, tulang punggung bangsa, tambah Syahrul.
Dihadapan 30 orang penyuluh pertanian dan petani milenial di BPP Cerme, Kepala BPPSDMP Kementan, Dedi Nursyamsi, meminta penyuluh agar selalu mendampingi dan hadir untuk petani.
“Cara mengatasi keterbatasan penyuluh adalah tetap bersemangat walau BOP kecil. Karena kunci produktivitas ada pada PPL. Selain itu pentingnya pemanfaatan IoT,” ujar Dedi.
Keterbatasan jumlah penyuluh menjadi perhatian khusus dari Dedi, pasalnya jumlah penyuluh pertanian di Kabupaten Gresik saat ini berjumlah 51 orang. Sementara, menurut data yang disampaikan oleh Kepala Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Gresik, terdapat 16 BPP, 303 Desa dan Gapoktan, 1075 Poktan. Dan saat ini 1 PPL membawahi 6 desa, 120 poktan.
“Lanjutkan lakususi, dan manfaatkan Internet of Thing (IoT). Usahakan agar penyuluh hadir, ada dan mendampingi petani,” tambah Dedi
Dedi menambahkan bahwa salah satu kunci suksesnya pembangunan pertanian adalah dengan menerapkan smart farming.
“Smart farming adalah pertanian cerdas, yang dilakukan orang cerdas dan cara cerdas serta menggunakan varietas tinggi bermutu. Manfaatkan alsintan untuk mempercepat proses produksi, dan manfaatkan IoT yang lebih praktis, mudah dan cepat,”imbuh Dedi.
Sementara itu Kepala Dinas Pertanian Gresik, Eko Anindito Putro mengatakan, kehadiran Kepala Badan memberikan semangat baru ditengah keterbatasan SDM yang ada.
“Walau SDM kami terbatas, kami tetap dapat menggunakan teknologi yang ada, seperti pemanfaatan smartphone serta lakususi seperti yang disampaikan kepala badan,”pungkas Eko.
